Three years ago, our daughter came into the world and changed everything in the best way possible. I am feeling ready to share the story of how she was born. A story about trust, love, and learning to let go. Her birth shaped so much of who I am today, and I’m excited to put it into words. Looking back now, I see how that day inspired us even more for the way we live and parent: with intention, connection, and trust. Sharing her story feels like opening a window into one of the most meaningful moments of my life, and I hope it inspires others to embrace their own journeys, whatever they may look like.

Her birth was raw, wild, and timeless. It brought me to a place beyond this world, where I felt in tune with my instincts. It was there I learned to trust in my body, my choices, and the life we wanted to build. That experience gave us the courage to step away from expectation and find our way back to simple, natural living.
Homebirth isn’t for everyone, and I hold a deep respect for all the ways women bring life into the world. Every story is sacred, but for me, her birth felt like returning to an ancient wisdom and to reclaiming my power.

In the days, even weeks, before she was born, I felt the anticipation. There were moments I thought labor had begun, but when it finally came, I knew. I slipped in and out of a dreamlike state as the contractions washed over me, the world around me fading.
There was a feeling of being between realms, neither here or there, suspended in a place where time didn’t exist. It felt as though I transcended ~ among the stars, drifting in another dimension where the boundaries of my body dissolved, and all that remained was a deep, connection to something much bigger.

But just as I became comfortable in that otherworldly place, the surges would come, powerful and consuming, pulling me back into my body and into the here. It was a dance of letting go and holding on. The pain was immense and yet it carried me closer to her with every wave.
I roared and screamed, my body giving voice to the untamed parts of me. There were moments when I said, “I can’t do this,” but deep down, I knew I could, even when it felt impossible. It’s funny how, once it’s done, you realize it’s something you’d willingly do over and over again, because what waits on the other side is worth every moment.

It was spiritual, a profound experience that pushed me to my limits. The intensity cracked me wide open, but also filled me with an unshakable strength. It was as though I had been given a glimpse of something eternal.
When my water broke, the energy shifted. My mom read affirmations we’d hung on the walls, reminding me of the strength I held, even when it felt out of reach.

And then, suddenly, it was time. My husband’s hands were the first to catch her as she entered the world. My body trembled with the power of what it had just done. And there she was, warm, tiny, perfect, and resting on my chest. The pain faded into the background, replaced by an overwhelming sense of love.
We delayed cutting the cord, letting it pulse until it gave all it could. She stayed skin to skin. My son, asleep in the next room, woke to meet his baby sister in the early hours of the morning. His sleepy smile and innocence filled the room with even more love, a moment I will never forget.

The days that followed were also sacred. We didn’t rush back into the world. I rested, surrounded by the gentle care of my family and midwife home visits.
It was a transformation that reshaped us. In that in between place where time and reality blurred, I found her waiting for me. It was a birth, rebirth, and everything our little family needed.
We love you dearly, our sunshine girl. 💗 Can’t wait to see the adventures and learning that unfold during your next trip around the sun.
